Then moments later, wishing that you bought bud instead. I know for me it’s happened way too many times—those silly rabbits and their tricks.
Whenever it came to buying edibles from the plug, it never did the job for me personally. It was just always a waste of money for an expensive cereal bar when I could have just brought weed and smoked it. But then again, I was still missing out on that experience of the euphoria from food and cannabis being ingested together.
So then I came to the conclusion that I all I had to figure out was how to get cannabis into all of my food. How to make my own edibles!
When you first dive into looking for how to infuse cannabis into food, all these expensive infusers just pop up, and as a fellow pothead, I just didn’t have the time for that. So I watched a couple of videos on how to make cannabis butter from home, and I went through all the trials and tribulations so that on your first try, you can have perfect cannabis butter to use in your cooking! Whether it’s for cooking mashed potatoes, baking pies, or even seasoning the turkey. First, you’re going to need:
- Premium Flower (Swing by any retail store or check out our flower menu here)
- Unsalted Butter
- Latex Gloves
- Food Container
- A Kitchen.
Now, this process is all about having patience, so make sure to have something rolled up or packed while you wait.
So depending on how potent you want your butter, the recommended starting point would be for every 3.5 grams of cannabis in the pot, you add 1/2 a stick of unsalted butter and 2 cups of water.
After you decide how you want these edibles to punch, the waiting begins.

Once your flower, unsalted butter, and water are in the pot, you want to set the flame as low as you can for a calm simmer. It’s going to simmer for about 3 hours. The reason for the simmer is because this process not only pulls the cannabinols out of the flower slowly without burning the oils. This is when you grab the joint you rolled up or that bowl you packed and light it, because there’s going to be a wait before you use the cheesecloth and gloves.
But once those three hours are up and you’ve allowed your liquid gold to cool, you can start preparing to strain the flower from the liquid. with cutting a piece of cheesecloth and setting it on top of your chosen food container and starting to pour. Once all the liquid is poured out, put on some gloves and start squeezing any excess liquid still trapped in the flower and cheesecloth. And when you’re sure you have all of your liquid, it’s ready for use and to be stored.
